March 2008 - A Shredder The Challenges The challenges of shredding a shredder... besides what seems to be an ambiguous statement or one of those never-ending questions like "Which came first the chicken or the egg?" is that an office paper shredder, although not "heavy-duty" enough to handle more than a few pieces of paper, does house some "heavy-duty" parts such as thick metal shafts and bars. The Solution Sometimes what can be a "challenge" is finding the appropriate shredder for the application at hand. If we truly were going to shred shredders all day long, we'd probably put them through a larger machine but since this was a "one time deal", we put it through one of our smallest shredders, a Dual-Shear™ M70. This shredder had no problems handling the large metal shafts that were in the shredder and the thick plastic housing.
