May 2006 - Aluminum The Challenges Aluminum Recycling often requires shredding to pre-size material. In some applications, producing a uniform particle size and density is required for efficient processing with the downstream equipment. The Solution The SSI Uni-Shear is ideally suited for this application. Aluminum can scrap is shown being bulk processed on the SSI SR-500 Uni-Shear fitted with a sizing screen on the discharge. The sizing screen can range from 1 to 3 inch and will produce a uniform shredded particle, minimal fines, while achieving the desired density and a high production rate. The 200HP system features a horizontal infeed ram for feeding the bricks or scrap into the cutting rotor at the optimal pressure. The ram pressure adjusts and cycles automatically to achieve optimal processing.
