The Challenges
When a customer comes to us with a problem, it's not just a "shredder" they are in need of. Many times it's a solution. In this case, the challenges were to be able to recover and recycle all of the raw materials from refrigerators.
The Solution
Here is an overview of the refrigeration recycling operation:
Started operations: December 2005
# of Refrigerators processed daily:
60 each/hr X 8 hr/day, 6 day/week, +500 each day
Where do the separated materials go from the plant?:
Steel, Copper, and Aluminum goes to refinery. The plastics goes to plastic product manufacturer, The urethane (insulation) goes to incinerator as a alternative fuel after make bricks.
System Overview:
1) Receiving dock
2) Gas removal system
3) Transfer conveyor (also manual removal of compressors and motors)
4) Feeding system to the 1st shredder
5) 1st shredder: Dual-Shear M120H
6) 2nd shredder: Dual-Shear M100H
7) Belt Conveyor
8) Magnetic Separator
9) Hammermill for the steel
10) 3rd shredder: Quad Q70E
11) Urethane separation system
12) Making bricks of urethane for incineration
13) Non-ferrous separation system (copper, aluminum, plastics)
