October 2008 - Vacuum Cleaners The Challenges It is estimated that the average generation rate of electronics scrap in the US is now 9-15 pounds per person per year, depending on where you live. In 2007, the US population was assessed to be 301,139,947 people.... you do the math. So what do you do with all that e-scrap? The Solution STOP! Don't throw it in the garbage! There are a growing number of companies in the US and around the world that accept this material and process it into reusable commodities. Many them employ SSI shredders as the first step in their processes. SSI has several types of shredding machines that have been adapted to optimize the processing needs of electronics recyclers and produce output materials that are ideally suited for automated material sorting and recovery technologies. Even vacuums are recyclable!
