Our shredders can range between $60,000 USD to over $1,000,000. Keep in mind, SSI can provide basic stand-alone shredders as well as systems that include conveyors, magnets, screens and size classifiers, optical, density and other sorting technologies.

Cost of operation will depend on your application. Clearly, shredding tires is more abrasive than shredding fish heads (a real application by the way).  After building shredders for over 30 years, we can provide you with solid user experience and and a Recommended Spare Parts List that will suggest the most common wear items and an estimate of replacement.  Also, based on the horsepower of your shredder and your local power costs, we can make some estimates there as well.

While there are many factors that lead to the correct technology, there are three primary factors that help us get going:

1. Application: What material do you need to process?  The more specific the better.
2. Throughput: How much material do you need to process? Typically we are working in weight per hour – often tons.
3. Output: How small are you looking for post shredding?

Examples:

• Strictly passenger tires, at 5 tons per hour to a 2” particle size.
• Consumer grade electronic scrap, at three tons per hour to a ¾” particle size.
• MSW (household garbage), at 20 tons per hour to a 18-24” particle size.

We always encourage visiting our factory headquarters. With a little planning, we can usually test some of your material with a shredder that hopefully meets your needs and requirements.  Shredding is fun!

Yes!  The vast majority of our first shredders are still in service.  While our equipment has evolved, improved, changed…we still produce the parts to support older generation shredders. In fact, the guy who originally built the shaft for your 1985 shredder is most likely the same person who will build your replacement today.  (Thanks Jerry!)
 
One other note – we are the designers, engineers and manufacturers of our equipment. We are not ‘assemblers’ of outsourced parts. Your shredder was born here. We know it. We try and keep track of all of our children.

Each company has different levels of technical capabilities. That being said, we have 5 field service technicians that are on the road over 150 days per year all over the globe. Or, with a bit of training, we can educate your staff to handle the vast majority of all preventive maintenance and service needs. The shredder is designed with simplicity in mind and many companies have high levels of self sufficiency, but we are always here (24/7) to help out should you need us.
