How This Shredder Turns Waste Tires Into Fuel for Cement Production

Share This:

Senegal's cement industry, driven by rapid urban development and economic growth, is adopting more sustainable practices by using tire-derived fuel (TDF) to supplement coal in clinker production, reducing both costs and carbon emissions.

Les Ciments Du Sahel, a major cement producer near Dakar, installed a TDF line to shred and process end-of-life tires into fuel chips, partnering with Chinese firm CBMI and U.S.-based shredder manufacturer SSI. The Dual-Shear® M120 two-shaft shredder with a trommel screen system efficiently handles the tire shredding process, providing a cost-effective, space-saving solution that converts waste tires into energy, supporting Senegal’s industrial growth while advancing sustainability goals.
