Construction & Demolition Solutions

SSI was once a contract shredding service provider, and we understand the need for robust, dependable machinery that can handle whatever the day brings it. We’ve got primary and residual shredding solutions for processors who need to handle anything from 5 to 100 tons per hour.

Here are some typical system solutions:

PRIMARY SHREDDING FOR C&D RECYCLING

SSI PRI-MAX® Technology is flexible and works best when its bulk loaded . Operators count on PRI-MAX® to meter feed their MRFs and ensure the material is sized small enough to be well liberated so metals and other items can be sorted, but large enough so items are still recognizable and there aren’t many “fines”.

Conventional high speed grinders don’t do too well with materials like plastics, textile and foam. SSI’s range of low speed shredders can process these materials and more, and convert them into a product that can be sold into the “RDF – Refuse Derived Fuel” markets.

STAND-ALONE SHREDDING

In certain markets, people only need to shred 2-20 tons per hour but they still want a machine that can digest a wide range of items, including metals, plastics and textiles, and convert them into marketable materials. SSI Quad® shredders offer users a cost effective, low maintenance, small footprint solution and they are ideally suited for this kind of application.

High speed machinery can be damaged by metals and other materials entering them. They also work best when they are fed consistently sized materials at a controlled rate. The best way we know of to optimize a wood grinder is to install a PRI-MAX® reducer in front of it. Its faster and more efficient than pre-crushing with an excavator, and it can be set to feed the grinder at just the right flow rate to optimize the processing line.
